Using MOTI to track and celebrate your habit progress
Every time you complete your habit behavior, be sure to tell MOTI about it by pushing his face (don't worry, it won't hurt him :) ). MOTI will help you celebrate this small win with lights, sounds, and haptics. Afterwards, his face will continue to show you how many times you have completed your habit that day through green light segments (for multiple times per day habits), or with light up entirely green for once daily habits.

Using MOTI to remind you to do your habit if you’re not
Through the set-up process, you told MOTI which habit you are working on and at what time(s) you expect to perform your habit. This information let's MOTI know when to start reminding you if you haven't told MOTI you've done your habit.
Reminders consist of two parts: color states and sounds. Color states will appear around your completed habit segment. The short personality quiz you took at the end of the set-up process helped to inform the type of personality MOTI should imbue to motivate you in the best possible you. The color matches your MOTI’s personality: a Sad personality yields blue, an Encouraging personality gives white lights, and an Angry/Nagging personality is yellow and red.
Reminder sounds will happen every once in a while during your reminder period to give you an extra nudge. They too have different personalities, complementing the colors, and will increase in intensity over time.
Following and tracking your habit progression
There are two ways in which you are able to track your progress: through the MOTI device himself and through your dashboard (app and web).
Through MOTI, you are able to instantly determine how you are doing at your habit each day. If you're working on a habit that happens multiple times per day, the number of segments lit up in green shows you how many you've done today and how many to go.
MOTI's celebration lights + sounds are a key indicator of your long term progress. The better you get, the more interesting your celebration animations will become. Additionally, MOTI's celebration sounds have four levels that increase in complexity and type:
- Level 1 = simple tones (think old Nintendo games)
- Level 2 = more complex tones (think old Nintendo games)
- Level 3 = more traditional robot expressions (think R2D2)
- Level 4 = more human-like expressions (think Wall-E)
MOTI's reminder sounds also follow a similar pattern.
You can also see this progress on your online dashboard, in the metrics page. You'll see which level you are currently in as well as how you are trending (up, down, or neutral).
Pushing MOTI remotely through your app or the web dashboard
If you are away from your MOTI when you do your habit, you can still celebrate and track doing your habit. Just simply give MOTI click on your mobile dashboard.
Another way you can do so is through the "+" button on the bottom left hand corner.
In both instances, your physical MOTI will automatically sync with this push (as long as it is online) and will be celebrating when you come back home.
Editing your Habit Data
If your MOTI is accidentally pushed, or you forget to add a remote push, you can add, delete, and modify your data via the “EDIT DATA” feature in the web dashboard list view. Your physical MOTI will automatically sync with these updates (as long as it’s online).
Changing your Habit or MOTI's settings
If you want to change your MOTI’s personality, reset your target times, adjust the brightness, or change any other settings, you may do so in the “Settings” tab. Just be sure to hit “SAVE” afterwards.

Using Sympathy Mode
Some days you just cannot do your habit, whether due to illness or extenuating circumstance. That’s ok - you’re human! To tell MOTI that you need a day off (for legitimate reasons), push and hold the center button for three seconds. MOTI will turn purple and won’t send you any reminders for the rest of the day.

How does MOTI know if I've done my habit or not?
MOTI knows whether you're done your habit by whether you push his faceplate physically, or "push" him through the app/web interface.
How do I interact with MOTI?
MOTI will give you reminders in the form of lights, sounds and haptic feedback to encourage you to do your habit. How MOTI encourages you is based upon the type of habit you are forming, as well as the results of your set-up personality quiz. If you do your habit, you will put MOTI's faceplate, or if you are away from home, you will "push" him through the app/web interface.
